ATLANTA -

The biggest and brightest moon of 2012 arrived Saturday night, and we've got the photos to prove it.  FOX 5 viewers shared over 100 photos of the "supermoon" with us on Facebook and via email, and we've posted some of the best here for you to see!

The moon passed closer to earth than it will all year, bringing us the biggest and brightest full moon of the year.  At 11:34 pm EST, it was about 221,802 miles from earth-- which is about 15,300 miles closer than average.

The last supermoon, on March 19, 2011, was about 240 miles closer than this year's . Next year's will be a bit farther away than this year's.
