OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
There's new video that investigators have released of the teen known
around Central Florida and the rest of the nation as someone accused of
the impersonation of a physician's assistant (PA). The recording released by detectives Tuesday is of their interrogation of Matthew Scheidt.
Last year, detectives with the Osceola Sheriff's office arrested the 18-year old for allegedly impersonating a PA and taking it to the point of actually treating patients at Osceola Regional Medical Center.
The investigation shows Scheidt was supposed to have been working in the billing department, when he claims he was given the wrong badge, which ended up giving him access to the emergency room area (ER).
During the interrogation, Scheidt said he held some patients' hands during procedures and he learned some of the terminology from books and apps he downloaded on his phone.
He also admitted to performing CPR on a woman who had overdosed on drugs, but Scheidt said he didn't do anything else medical.
Scheidt also went on to tell investigators that he never actually said he was a PA. Scheidt's attorney is now trying to get some of his statements thrown out of the case.
Scheidt's trial is expected to start at the end of August but prosecutors want more time to interview witnesses.
Scheidt is not only accused of impersonating a physician's assistant, but he was also cuffed a different time in South Florida for allegedly impersonating an officer.
