OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
Matthew Scheidt is accused of faking his way around an Osceola hospital last year as a physicians assistant. Given he was 17 at the time, detectives asked Scheidt how the billing clerk learned enough medical terminology to pull it off.
"I studied by myself. I studied before cause I knew I wanted to go do it and I didn't want to sound like an idiot. So I just kind of read an overview of everything" Scheidt told detectives during three hours of interrogation.
Scheidt also told detectives that included him performing CPR on a patient... for at least a minute.
"What would have happened to you if she had died? You touched a patient with absolute zero medical training?" asked a detective. "Well I have my CPR," he responded. The detective fired back: "You have zero medical training to do anything in a hospital."
Scheidt is facing forty years in prison for allegedly impersonating a physicians assistant.
