Ga. Tech looks for a do-over after dismal 1st half

ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia Tech is starting over.
After a dismal first half of the season, the Yellow Jackets (2-4, 1-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) return from an off week with a new defensive coordinator and hopes of salvaging a respectable record.
Head coach Paul Johnson fired Al Groh last week, a couple of days after Georgia Tech lost its third straight game - all of them while giving up more than 40 points, the first time that's happened in school history.
Charles Kelly has taken over as defensive coordinator on an interim basis, but Johnson is very much involved in the new scheme even while calling the offense. He's demanding a simplified approach, saying there was too much confusion under Groh.
Georgia Tech faces another struggling team Saturday, hosting Boston College (1-5, 0-3).
