UMATILLA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
If you're looking to buy local for your holiday gifts, Fox 35's David Martin may have a gift idea for you.
Florida Farm Distillers, near Umatilla, is one of Florida's best-kept secrets.
The distillery makes Palm Ridge Reserve, a top-shelf bourbon-style whiskey, out of an old horse barn in Marion County.
Florida Farm Distillers is only one of two distilleries in Florida and the only one that ages its whiskey in barrels, according to owner Dick Waters.
Palm Ridge Reserve is fermented with four types of grains, aged in a barrel for a year and is 90 to 100 proof. Only 500 cases are produced a year.
The whiskey is sold in select Central Florida retailers. For more information on Palm Ridge Reserve whiskey or where it's sold, go to PalmRidgeReserve.com or call 352-455-7232. The whiskey is also available for purchase at the website.
