Georgia Tech back to Sun Bowl to face USC

ATLANTA -

Georgia Tech is heading back to the Sun Bowl for the second straight year and will face underachieving Southern California.

The Yellow Jackets, who got a waiver from the NCAA to play in the postseason despite having a 6-7 record following a loss in the ACC championship game, will play in a bowl game for the 16th straight season. That's the fourth-longest streak in the nation.

USC (7-5), which was ranked No. 1 to start the season, hasn't faced Georgia Tech since 1973. The Trojans have won 2 of the three previous meetings.

The Sun Bowl will be played Dec. 31 in El Paso, Texas.
