LAS VEGAS (WJBK) -- American Coney Island inside The D Las Vegas is a little bit of Detroit inside of a hotel-casino kind of named and inspired by the nickname of our city.

Grace and Chris Keros are the owners of American Coney Island.  I asked them why bring it to Las Vegas.

"It was the perfect place to come.  It's a destination spot.  We're a destination Coney Island, and Vegas, there couldn't be a better spot," Grace Keros explained.

The locations in Detroit are where?

"There's Ford Field, downtown Detroit and the Detroit Zoo," Grace Keros said.

What does it take to get all the tastes of Detroit in Vegas?  Do they have to ship a lot of stuff over?

"Everything we're shipping is actually right from Detroit from our chili to our Dearborn sausage and even down to our bun.  One of the things that we found here in the West Coast, they don't know how to make a good steam bun, so we had to even ship those out, too," said Chris Keros.

What has the reception been to our Detroit Coneys?

"It's been phenomenal.  They love it.  From people that have moved here from Michigan, from new people that live here in Vegas, they think it's amazing.  They just love it," said Grace Keros.

Saturday morning on Fox 2 News Weekend, I will take you inside The D Las Vegas, a very cool hotel that has a lot of ties to Detroit.
