NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is still in the hospital with a blood clot, but doctors say she's expected to make a full recovery.
Tuesday, Secretary Clinton continues to recover at the hospital and we're learning more details about just how dangerous a situation it was for her.
If Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's doctors had not found the blood clot when they did, medical experts say she could have had a stroke, seizure or worse.
"It can be life threatening if the sinuses completely included, then there's a huge pressure build up and if not treated quickly, than it can be fatal."
Dr. Ezriel Kornel is a neurosurgeon at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco.
Kornel says the blood clot was located in one of the major veins behind the right ear, between the brain and skull.
A picture shows a cross section of the brain, looking down at it.
Clinton was admitted to the hospital Sunday after doctors found the clot during a routine MRI.
She suffered a concussion in mid-December after falling and hitting her head.
On Tuesday, doctors continue to treat her with anticoagulants to diminish the clot. Her doctors say she has made excellent progress.
"So far the MRI doesn't show any damage to the brain. Likelihood of having any long term consequences is very remote. Most likely she'll recovery fully," said Dr. Kornel.
Dr. Kornel says she could be released Tuesday night or Wednesday, depending on how cautious her doctors want to be.
