An afternoon chain reaction crash sent three people to a local hospital, including an elderly pedestrian.
Fox 29's Stephanie Salvatore visited the scene of the accident along the Black Horse Pike in Gendora, Gloucester County.
Gloucester Township Police said that a Dodge Ram truck was making a turn from Eighth Street when it hit a Honda traveling south down Black Horse Pike. The Honda ended up in a parking lot but not before hitting a man who was walking along the sidewalk.
"All of a sudden I just heard this really horrible thump, it just sounded like something I'm never going to forget."
Salon owner Christine Rowland says a customer saw the man walking past the window just seconds before he was hit. His cane and other belongings could be seen still laying in the parking lot.
"All of a sudden I ran to the door and there was a gentleman laying on the parking lot right here. His head down. Blood coming all out, and people all over just running."
Rowland and her coworkers say they have seen their fair share of accidents around here.
"A week and a half ago there was an accident..people sometimes cut through the parking lot and not go in the driveway properly its in one way and out the other. We've had people knock down poles and things like that a lot lately."
"I just don't know what to do you could just pay attention to the road more for the new year. It's sad because there's been so many accidents here and you know you hate to see something happen like this."
The pedestrian along with the driver of the truck, and the passenger of the car were taken to Cooper Hospital. No word on their conditions or identities at this point.
Not the prettiest Friday, but we're ready for a great weekend. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. After an early high in the upper sixties, temperatures fall & winds pick up out of the chillier northwest. Right now the Memorial Day Weekend looks sunny and cool with highs in the low to mid 60s on Saturday, in the 70s Sunday & Monday. Cooler temps at the shore.
Have fun!
