One more thing, about cleaning up after the holidays.
There's nothing like seeing those Christmas trees in the alley propped up against the dumpster to remind you that the holiday season is over. You probably have a pile of greeting cards headed for the garbage too. Here's a better idea:
The nearly 50 year old St. Jude's Ranch for Children, a non-profit foster care facility, recycles those old cards. Children staying at the 40-acre ranch turn them into new greeting cards that are sold to raise money for St. Jude's Ranch, where they give kids that have been abused, neglected, and abandoned a new home, and new hope---a place to go that's in a safe environment.
So, if you'd like to put your old cards to good use, send them to:
St. Jude's Ranch for Children
Recycled Card Program
100 St. Jude's Street
Boulder City, NV 89005
I've always maintained we should send Christmas cards in July when they wouldn't get lost in the crush of holiday mail. But this is a way to get a little more meaning out of them.
