NY awaiting 9 districts' teacher evaluation plans

Posted: Updated:

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Time is running out for school districts in New York state that haven't yet adopted a new teacher evaluation plan.

Districts that miss the Jan. 17 deadline will lose some state funding.

With just under two weeks to go, Education Commissioner John King says all but 9 of the state's roughly 700 districts have submitted plans to the Education Department for approval.

The department has signed off on more than 530 plans and has provided feedback to others.

The districts that haven't submitted any plans are: Fallsburg, Hamburg, Harrison, Montauk, New York City, Onteora, Pine Plains, Remsen and Yonkers.

The state budget for this fiscal year requires districts to have an approved plan in place by Jan. 17 to qualify for an increase in state aid.
