The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) has identified the semi truck driver and pedestrian involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Orange County this morning.
Investigators say that just before 7 a.m., a white semi with the letters "LS" on its trailer and driven by Stephen Cospito, 32, of Apopka was traveling east on Landstreet Road when it turned left onto Trussway Boulevard.
As the semi turned, the left side of the trailer knocked pedestrian Vincent Callaghan, 53, of Orlando, to the ground.
As Callaghan lay on the ground, the semi continued onto Trussway, and the left rear wheels of the trailer struck Callaghan's head, troopers say. The driver of the semi drove off without stopping.
Callaghan was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi was later found on Rocket Court, near Taft. FHP is investigating.
