Man shot while walking dog in serious condition

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A 50-year-old man is in serious condition after he was shot while walking his dog in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood Thursday night, police said.

The man was with his dog in the 1800 block of West 19th Street when a gunman approached and opened fire, striking the man in the stomach and leg about 10:18 p.m, police said.

Police could not say if the dog was injured in the attack.

The man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious condition, police News Affairs officials said.

No one was in custody early Friday as Area Central detectives investigated.
