MTA restores/expands 17 bus routes in NYC

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

More than a dozen bus lines have returned to service.

The MTA has restored or expanded 17 bus routes Sunday morning and among them the B39, which connects Williamsburg to the Lower East Side.

Budget restraints forced the MTA to limit some of its service back in 2010 but officials say a surplus has allowed them to bring back the lines.

The agency says the move helps about 50,000 riders get to their destinations.

Four additional bus lines will service later this month.
