The Absecon Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a man who posed as a police officer and conducted a motor vehicle stop at Absecon Boulevard and Turner Avenue this Monday around 10:45 p.m.
The man stopped a 24-year-old woman from Brigantine as she was heading home late Monday night on Absecon Boulevard, police report. The man was dressed as an officer and told the woman he was on an assignment in the area and asked to search her car.
Police say the woman did not realize the man was impersonating a police officer and allowed him to do so. After the man searched her vehicle he drove off.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall and with a skinny build. He had blonde hair and brown eyes and he was clean-shaven. He was wearing a navy blue shirt that looked like a police officer's uniform shirt.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call the Absecon Police Department at 609-641-0667 ext. 216.
