CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
Two Chicago Apple Stores were slightly bruised this weekend in separate incidents involving a 79-year-old driver who crashed into the Lincoln Park store and a spray-paint attack at the Michigan Avenue store.
At 6:15 p.m. Sunday, a black Lincoln Town Car crashed through the front doors of the Lincoln Park Apple store at Clybourn and Halsted. The car smashed through the glass double doors, plowed through a wooden table and hit a wall adorned with iPhone accessories. The store apparently was open for business at the time.
One person suffered minor injuries and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to Fire Media Affairs.
Passersby used their iPhones to snap pictures of the chaos, a particularly odd sight against the store's normally sleek and symmetric facade.
Several hours earlier, a man from Cicero appeared in bond court charged with spray-painting the white Apple sign at the company's Michigan Avenue store on the Magnificent Mile.
Joshua Moreno, 18, was charged with criminal defacement of property after a witness said he saw Moreno spraying-paint the sign on Saturday. He also was charged with damaging a nearby Walgreens and the offices of Golub and Co., a real estate firm.
Court records show Moreno is accused of having victimized other high-end retailers, including Louis Vuitton, Bvlgari, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.
