ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
The suspect in a downtown Orlando nightclub stabbing has been identified.
Demontruis Abram, 19, of Orlando, faces charges of attempted felony murder and aggravated battery. The victim, who has not been named, remains in critical condition.
Just before 2 a.m., a fight broke out on the first floor of Bar One at 1 South Orange Ave., according to Orlando Police. During the fight, a man was stabbed in the chest.
A panic ensued, and a mob of patrons ran out of the club. Police were forced to shut down Orange Avenue for the investigation, and it took them about 45 minutes to control the mob.
"It was total chaos when they were bringing him [the victim] out," a witness told FOX 35's Ray Raimundi. "There were girls crying. People not necessarily knew what was going on. They eventually got the victim to the sidewalk and let him down. He was bleeding a lot," the witness said.
The victim was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Police have not released a motive.
