Clark Atlanta names new head football coach

ATLANTA (AP) - Officials at Clark Atlanta University have announced former Tusculum College Defensive Line Coach Kevin Weston will serve as the school's new head football coach.

The university's Athletics Director Tamica Smith Jones says the school is confident Weston will bring a sense of momentum and stability to the university's football program, which has underwent several coaching changes.

Weston spent eight years working at Tusculum College and was promoted to assistant head coach in 2008. During that season, the team had a 9-4 record and won the South Atlantic Conference championship. For the first time in school history, the team in 2008 earned an NCAA Division II playoff berth.

Weston, of Queens, N.Y., played for Tusculum's football team between 1999 and 2002. He graduated in 2002 with a degree in physical education.
