ATLANTA (AP) - Wal-Mart has announced plans to open its smallest store in the country on the campus of Georgia Tech.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/SKBbrC ) reports the retailer plans to open the campus mini-store in the second quarter of 2013. Wal-Mart on Campus is a concept being tested at the University of Arkansas, and officials say Georgia Tech is the second test site for the concept.
A company spokesman told the newspaper the miniature store will offer limited pharmacy, grocery, health and beauty goods and general merchandise. The store will also offer check cashing and bill paying services.
At 2,500 square feet, the miniature store will be Wal-Mart's smallest store in the country. Company representatives say most Wal-Mart stores are about 40,000 square feet and Wal-Mart Express stores are about 15,000 square feet.
