PHILADELPHIA -

The Eagles new coach, Chip Kelly, landed in Philadelphia Wednesday night hours before the team will officially introduce its 21st head coach in franchise history.

Kelly's plane landed at the Northeast Philadelphia Airport as a group of reporters and some fans waited nearby.

Kelly told reporters moments after his plane landed that although he left some great people at home, he was sold on the Eagles from the start.

"My dream is to just win and this is the best opportunity for me to win," Kelly said.

The new Eagles coach says he's excited about the opportunity and told reporters he was ready to get to work.

The Eagles announced they had hired Kelly, who previously was the head coach at the University of Oregon, earlier Wednesday.

"Chip Kelly will be an outstanding coach for the Eagles," Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement posted on the team's official website.

"He has a brilliant football mind. He motivates his team with his actions as well as his words. He will be a great leader for us and will bring a fresh, energetic approach to our team."

Before getting in a car to leave the airport, Kelly stopped to sign a few autographs. At least one fan asked him to sign an Eagles helmet.

The Eagles have scheduled a 1:30 p.m. press conference for Thursday to introduce the new coach.
