Armed robberies increase in Marquette Park: Alert

Police are warning residents of an increase in armed robberies in the Marquette Park neighborhood on the South Side.

In two robberies, victims were approached by men who robbed them while holding a handgun to their back, according to a release from police News Affairs.

The robberies happened about 8:40 p.m. Saturday in the 6500 block of South Claremont Avenue and about 6:45 p.m. Monday in the 2500 block of West 65th Street, the alert said.

One of the robbers is described as a black man, 25-30 years old, 5-foot-10, 185-200 pounds with a light complexion. The other three are described as black men, 20-29 years old, 5 foot to 5-foot-10, and between 120-140 pounds.
