DETROIT (WJBK) -- It's cold. So cold that the water on the Detroit River has a sheen of steam hovering above it.

As temperatures reach lows we haven't seen in nearly two years, it's important to remember those who have no place to escape the bitter weather.

Two women braved the sub-zero wind chills to get in a workout at the Livonia Parks and Recreation center (15100 Hubbard), one of the places offering Livonia residents a chance to warm up from the bitter cold. For more information on services available, call 734-466-2900.

At Cass Community Social Services in Detroit (3901 Cass Ave.), women and children have a place to stay. Bridgette Floyd says a warm meal is also offered to help make life a bit easier.
