The body of a missing Grayslake man was found today near Campbell Airport.
Joey Frese, 20, was found dead near an entrance road to the airport. His family confirmed the death on their Facebook Missing Person page.
Grayslake police said Frese was last seen at 1 a.m. Sunday. Friends say he was walking home from a party in nearby Round Lake, but never made it home.
Volunteers were retracing his steps today morning near Townline Road and Cedar Lake Road in Round Lake. Police and fire personnel from the area were searching the grounds of Campbell Airport in Round Lake when they found a body.
The family posted:
"Sadly I must announce that Joey's body has been recovered. My family is devastated and asks that at this time you please respect our privacy while we deal with our loss. You cannot imagine how much we have appreciated the support from all of you in our efforts to find him. The outpouring of compassion from friends, and the community has really touched us."
The Facebook page received 1,878 "Likes" while it was up.
