NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A fire that broke out early Friday morning in Washington Heights appeared to be under control about 90 minutes later.

The multi-story building on W 189th Street was surrounded by fire trucks as residents were forced to evacuate into the cold.

There were no reports of injuries.

Firefighters had to battle the outside temperature of about 13 degrees which felt even colder with the wind chill.

The National Weather Service warned of the threat of frostbite and hypothermia overnight with temperatures feeling like zero to five degrees below zero.
