Police Sunday morning were scouring the western end of the Lincoln Park neighborhood looking for a man who robbed a sandwich shop at gunpoint.
The holdup happened about 10:45 a.m. in the 1500 block of West Fullerton Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada. He had no information on the business, but according to unconfirmed dispatch reports, it was a submarine sandwich shop. There is a Subway restaurant at 1513 W. Fullerton Ave.
The man held up the store at gunpoint and fled on foot, Estrada said. There were no reports of anyone in the restaurant being injured and police had no information yet on what the robber got away with.
As of about 11:30 a.m. police were searching the area -- specifically around Fullerton and Clybourn avenues -- for the robber, according to dispatch reports. He was not yet in custody.
