DORAVILLE, Ga. -
Two men are accused of stealing more than $65,000 worth of frozen chicken wings in Gwinnett County.
Police say 35-year-old Dewayne Patterson, of Lithonia, and 26-year-old Renaldo Jackson, of Stone Mountain, stole the frozen wings from Nordic Cold Storage in Doraville on Jan. 12. The two were employed at that facility.
Investigators said the men used a forklift to load 10 pallets of Tyson frozen chicken wings into a rental truck.
The wings have yet to be found, but the men were arrested last Wednesday for felony theft by taking. According to
Gwinnett County Jail records, they have since been released on $2,950
bond.
The heist comes two weeks before the Super Bowl --
known as a big day for wings -- and the same week the American Chicken
Council warned that wings might be harder to find this year due to the
record price of corn.
