ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
The search is on for a gunman and another suspect, following what deputies are calling a drug deal turned ugly. A 28-year-old man is hospitalized after being shot in the abdomen.
Orange County deputies spent Thursday evening searching for two suspects along Warringwood Drive, not far from an area behind the Lyme Bay Colony, where the shooting occurred.
Resident Ivy Dahl heard it all unfold. "I was laying down and said to my husband, 'What was that?' He said, 'Gunshots!' And we like jumped up and were like, 'That's way too close, way too close!' and my dog started freaking out."
According to investigators, the victim was in the middle of a drug deal when he was shot by two black men. "Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Just like that," Dahl explained. "Then we left to go to the store, and I saw the ambulance, fire truck."
The identity of the victim and his condition has not been released.
Deputies are asking residents in the area to be alert. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
