Firefighters were busy Sunday afternoon putting out a warehouse fire in northwest Atlanta.
Crews arrived on the scene of a former recycling company in the 1300 block of Mayson Turner Road NW around 4:20 p.m. Sunday. They were able to do a quick search of the building before having to pull crews out due to the deteriorating conditions.
Fire officials say wood inside contributed to the fire quickly spreading and shooting up through the roof. A second alarm was struck to assist in fighting the fire.
FOX 5 viewer Nancy Hancock emailed us a video of the fire as she flew over it with Windship Helicopter. Thick black smoke was seen billowing out the truck with flames peeking through the roof. Firefighters used their cannons from their aerial ladder trucks to try knock the fire down.
Firefighters were able to start releasing the second alarm just before 6 p.m. as the fire was getting under control, but a second shift came in later in the evening to continue to mop up hot spots in the building.
There were no reports of injuries as a result of the fire.
