Conn. prisoners bring bedbugs into police station

NORWALK, Conn. (AP) — Norwalk police say they had to decontaminate five officers, several patrol cars and the police station lockup after arresting three men who were infested with bedbugs.

The Hour of Norwalk reports that there also was an infestation scare at Norwalk Superior Court on Tuesday after the three men were brought there for arraignment. But Judicial Branch officials say a bedbug-sniffing dog didn't find any bugs in the courthouse.

Authorities say the men were living at a local motel and were arrested Sunday. Police didn't release the men's names or the charges against them. They were detained in the police department's holding cell area on Monday.

Police say they had to call an exterminator into the station and send the five officers' uniforms to a cleaning facility.
