A war of words is brewing between the governors of California and Texas. California governor Jerry Brown is criticizing Texas governor Rick Perry for unleashing an ad campaign in California, trying to woo its businesses to Texas.
"Building a business is tough -- but I hear building a business in California is next to impossible. This is Texas governor Rick Perry and I have a message for California businesses. Come check out Texas," Perry says in the ad.
The 30-second radio spot -- which is now airing in several major cities in the golden state -- tries to sell Californians that doing business in Texas is better for them and their companies.
But today Governor Brown fired back, criticizing the ad. He says it's "less like a burp and more like flatulence."
Brown also he says companies are actually leaving Texas to come to California because it makes more sense.
"A lot of these Texans that come here, you know they don't go back. I mean who would want to spend their summers in 110 degree heat inside some kind of fossil fueled air conditioner, not the smart way to go," said Brown.
A number of companies are looking at moving out of California over rising taxes. But some lawmakers say last year, California added more jobs than Texas, Oregon and West Virginia combined.
A few months back, California officials had another war of words with the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, which was trying to lure business.
