PHOENIX -There was no testimony Thursday in the Jodi Arias murder trial. She's the valley woman being tried for first-degree murder in the shooting, stabbing and slashing murder of her former boyfriend Travis Alexander.

But it was still a busy day for the judge and lawyers in the case as they met behind closed doors to talk about evidence in the trial.

Thursday there was an evidentiary hearing. Will a letter Travis gave to Jodi on Valentine's Day be admitted, as well as audio recordings of conversations between Travis and Jodi? These could be important to her claim he was abusive to her, and she was defending herself when she killed him.

Jodi Arias has been on the witness stand for several days already and she's not done.

So far, she's tried to illustrate she doesn't seem like a killer, that she was abused, that Travis used her for sex while "saving her soul," and even baptized her into the Mormon faith.

"Travis held his hand up and said an invocation or prayer or blessing, I do not know what it is called and then I was dipped into the water and came back up," said Arias in court Wednesday.

Then she testified that not long after he baptized her, while still in church clothes, they had sex at his urging.

But you'd have to think the jurors are wondering -- if the relationship wasn't working, why not just leave? This is where the domination and mental abuse and control theory comes in.

Here's how she described the relationship.

Question: "After this encounter on this spiritual day how did you feel about yourself?"

Arias: "After he left I felt not very good, I felt like a used piece of toilet paper."
