Police seek suspect in escalating armed robberies: Alert

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
Police are warning businesses of a series of armed robberies that have occurred since January throughout the city, mostly on the North and West sides, that have been escalating and moving south.
A man with a gun enters businesses and demands money from the register between 11:39 p.m. and 2:15 a.m., according to a community alert from Area North and Area Central detectives. Sometimes, he brings items to the counter for purchase before robbing the business.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man 22-40, 5-foot-5 to 6-foot-2, and 180-210 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and black knit cap.
The robberies have occurred at:
— 3600 block of North Western on Jan. 18 at 11:30 a.m.
— 1500 block of West Fullerton on Jan. 27 at 10:45 a.m.
— 1700 block of North Clybourn on Jan. 29, at 11:58 p.m.
— 2800 block of North Ashland on Jan. 31 at 1:25 a.m.
— 1700 block of North Sheffield on Jan. 31 at 1:38 a.m.
— 100 block of West Division on Jan. 31 at 2 a.m.
— 2900 block of North Broadway on Feb. 3 at 2:15 a.m.
— 2200 block of North Lincoln on Feb. 6 at 2 a.m.
— 300 block of West Chicago on Feb. 6 at 3:15 a.m.
— 800 block of West Jackson on Feb. 9 at 7:55 p.m.
— 1300 block of South Halsted on Feb. 10 at 1:40 p.m.
