A southwest suburban couple was expected in court Wednesday, a day after police and federal agents found an indoor cannabis-growing operation and about $250,000 worth of drugs in their home.
On Tuesday, police from Joliet and Plainfield, along with U.S. DEA agents, executed a search warrant at the home of Randy and Nicole Mota of the 6500 block of Roth Drive in Joliet, according to Plainfield police.
They discovered an indoor marijuana cultivating operation, and confiscated 71 cannabis sativa plants and 18 pounds of loose cannabis, a statement from police said. The street value of the drugs was estimated to be in excess of $250,000.
Randy Mota was charged with possession of cannabis, manufacture and delivery of cannabis, production of cannabis/50-200 plants, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, according to the Will County Sheriff's office.
His wife, Nicole Mota, was charged with possession of 30-500 grams of cannabis, according to the sheriff's office.
Both are being held at the Will County Jail and were expected in court on Wednesday.
