Fashion Square Mall is getting a new lease on business, at least according to its new owner, Tennessee-based UP Development. The sale closed on Tuesday.
UP Development Vice President Robert Coleman tells FOX 35, "Once we have the events and the concerts, it's going to actually bring people back to reality and they'll say, 'Wow!' That's something we've never seen before at a mall. Just giving back to the community, is what we're looking for."
Coleman says there are plans to keep the current anchor stores like Macy's, Dillard's, and Sears, and add to the current stores. They also plan to expand geographically, adding an apartment complex and possibly a hotel. Coleman says the idea is to make the mall a place to live, eat, be entertained, and of course shop.
The entire plan will take five years to complete, but managers say you'll begin to see changes immediately.
