ATLANTA -
A racially-charged phrase allegedly uttered by an Atlanta city supervisor will cost taxpayers money.
A Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport supervisor allegedly called a female employee an "angry black woman." The exchanged was witnessed by co-workers.
"He routinely called her an angry black woman on the job when she challenged him on legitimate issues," said Atlanta City Councilmember Michael Bond.
The city is settling a workplace discrimination lawsuit filed by the woman for $45,000, Bond said.
The woman's job evaluations had been called exemplary.
The unnamed airport supervisor, who is white, left city employment while the investigation was underway.
The female subordinate is also no longer at the airport. FOX 5's Morse Diggs reports that she has accepted a job at a different department in the city.
