A study found the average woman speaks 20,000 words per day, compared to 7,000 for men. The reason may be linked to "Fox P2"—a specific protein linked to speech and language in the brain that women have more of. The protein is linked to the function of speech.
We asked people along Michigan Avenue their opinion. We asked everyone the same question, the same way. Then, afterwards, we counted their words. In our experiment, the average woman spoke 50 words and the average man spoke 63 words.
