Police: man held in stabbing death of girlfriend, father

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -
Police in DeKalb County say they have one man in custody in connection with the apparent stabbing death of two people at a Stone Mountain home on Thursday night.
Investigators say they received a call of a man armed with a knife at a home on Mannbrook Drive shortly before 11 p.m. When they arrived, and found two victims who appeared to have been stabbed to death.
They say a domestic dispute turned violent, and upon further investigation arrested 35-year-old Rodney Eugene Smith Jr. at the scene. He is facing several charges, including murder and child cruelty, after police say he killed his girlfriend, and his 58-year-old father, Rodney Eugene Smith Sr.
They say he also injured his mother, 58-year-old Loraine Smith. She was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to investigators, two children were home at the time of the incident and were not harmed. They say they are now in protective custody.
Police say the suspect and the victims all lived at the home.
The 35-year-old Smith was also injured, and he was treated at the scene, according to police. He is being held in the DeKalb County Jail.
