LI high school holds police drill for emergency situations

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Suffolk County police and emergency workers descended on a high school on Long Island Saturday.

The emergency personnel held a life-like drill at Connetquot High School with police having their guns drawn and cased the facility – practicing how to handle various emergency situations.

Officials say the exercise tried to induce the chaos and panic of a real-life event – such as a school shooting – and students say the exercise worked.

Saturday's exercise used about 60 Suffolk County police officers.
