Residents born and raised in Glenside were shocked to find out that four homes in the quaint community have been burglarized over the past two weeks.
So far, Abington police say thieves are targeting areas not far from Keswick Village, stealing small items like jewelry from houses on Oakdale, Parkdale and Woodlawn Avenues.
"Maybe because we're not used to it, people aren't aware of it and are very lax in keeping their doors open, not being as aware," suggests one resident.
Police say the burglaries seem to be happening in the early evening, possibly when homeowners go out to dinner.
Despite hearing the news, Glenside resident Kristin Smith says she feels fairly safe here thanks to her guarddog Teddy and a community watching out for one another.
"I have a neighbor that lives across the street that like everytime I leave for vacation they're like we got your house, we got your mail everyone's very community oriented and look out for each other which is awesome," says Smith.
Police have not given a description of the person or people responsible for the burglaries. They hope to release more information in the coming days.
