SkyFOX was overhead as a woman, allegedly in her second stolen police cruiser of the morning, struck a pedestrian and several vehicles before being arrested in Philadelphia.
Twenty-four hours after leading police on a two state, high speed chase in two stolen police cars, Blake Bills and Shayna Sykes began to see the criminal charges against them pile up.
"They were bent on destruction, either their own or somebody else," Camden County prosecutor Warren Faulk told FOX 29 Wednesday.
Bills now faces attempted murder and carjacking charges for allegedly running down Camden Police Officer Sekou Reid-Bey after stealing the 16-year police veteran's cruiser. Bills and Sykes fled across the Ben Franklin Bridge at speeds up to 100 mph before crashing at 7th and Norris in Philadelphia.
As Bills was being arrested, police say Sykes stole a Philadelphia police cruiser, crashed into several cars and led philly cops on another high speed chase before she was nabbed.
"It's just unbelievable that two young people with apparently a very bad narcotics habit would go to those extremes," Faulk said.
Investigators also disclosed that Bills and Sykes were stopped at 3rd and Erie in North Camden Sunday during an attempted drug buy and fled onto I-676 with police in hot pursuit. The chase almost proved deadly when an officer's cruiser flipped over.
"We're lucky that innocent drivers weren't killed on I-676," Faulk added.
Faulk also says the two suspects allegedly tried to carjack a vehicle at 3rd and Market Street in Camden just moments before stealing the Camden police car Tuesday morning.
FOX 29's Dave Schratwieser asked Faulk if there was a message for young people coming into Camden to buy drugs. He said, "Yes. Don't."
Camden police are expected to add more charges in connection with that high speed chase on Sunday. That officer was not seriously injured. Charges could also be filed in the carjacking at 3rd and Market.
Sources also say that Bills and Sykes are being investigated in connection with an alleged carjacking in Philadelphia over the weekend.
Officer Reid-Bey remains hospitalized with a broken leg and other injuries.
