The Philadelphia Eagles announced Tuesday that they did "part ways" with cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha shortly before the NFL's free agency period began.
Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman was quoted by the team as saying, "[Nnamdi Asomugha] has been a true pro on and off the field for this organization and our community. … We wish [Asomugha] all the best as he continues his NFL career."
The team's management also says they "look ahead to NFL Free Agency at 4 p.m."
Unofficial tallies have the team with about $35 million to $40 million to spend under the league's salary cap, after releasing Asomugha.
And the team has plenty of needs on defense, especially in the secondary. Among the targets they could be looking at are Miami cornerback Sean Smith, or safeties LaRon Landry of the Jets and or Dashon Goldson of the 49ers.

It was a gloomy Sunday as the whole area remain socked in with low clouds & fog, drizzle and scattered showers.
The weather remains unsettled through most of the work week. The difference is that it will really warm up -- temperatures soar into the 80s by Tuesday. That mild and humid air mass will fuel afternoon thunderstorms.
By Thursday a cold front moves by bringing more rain. It will also bring drier and cooler weather by Friday as we finally clear out.
