OCALA, Fla. (WOGX FOX 51) -
Two employees of an Ocala motel were shot dead Tuesday night, and authorities have arrested a man in connection with the slayings.
Kelvin Lee Coleman, 37, a convicted felon, will face first-degree murder charges, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said.
The victims, a man and a woman, were found shot to death at about 9 p.m. on a balcony of the Vacation Host Inn on South Pine Avenue. Lester Carter, 42, had worked at the motel for almost a year. The 54-year-old female victim, whose identity is not being released until next of kin can be notified, had worked there for nine years.
Detectives say there was a "disturbance" at the motel earlier in the evening, but the two victims were not part of that argument. They say Coleman fled after the shooting but was arrested shortly afterward in Silver Springs Shores.
Coleman has faced attempted murder charges in the past but was released from prison in July 2009.
