ATLANTA -
An electrical fire on a moving walkway disrupted operations at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, according to officials.
The fire occurred on the moving sidewalk between Concourses C and D around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.
"The alarms were going off, and they said, 'There's an emergency that's been reported,' you know, ‘please stay calm' and ‘there's a fire'. Well, we were in the D concourse, and in the D concourse, there was the smell of fire. Like, you could smell burning something," said Shane Wahner.
Crews quickly put the fire out.
Passengers were diverted from the area between the concourses as the smoke was ventilated out.
The trains and walkways began running again later in the evening.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
