Well, it's a cover that definitely got our attention, the current issue of Philadelphia Magazine, with the headline, "Being White in Philly."
PHILADELPHIA -
We first told you about the controversial article "Being White in Philly" published in Philadelphia Magazine a couple of weeks ago.
Now, Mayor Michael Nutter is calling that article's tone quote "disgusting" and calling for an investigation.
The story features a ton of interviews with anonymous white residents living in different parts of the city who talk about their interactions with African-Americans.
Nutter says the article's tone is "disgusting," and he has asked the human relations commission to look into some of the race-related concerns in the article.
Philadelphia Magazine Editor Tom McGrath said Nutter is entitled to think and say what he wants, and the need to have a deeper discussion about race in the city is why they ran the story in the first place.
Many African-Americans in Philadelphia have accused the author of the piece and the magazine of "race baiting."
But McGrath says the story is "fair."
