Pa. Turnpike Launches Contract Review Amid Pay-To-Play Scandal

Posted: Updated:

The new head of the Pennsylvania Turnpike took action Monday following a grand jury report accusing the agency in a pay-to-play scandal.

Turnpike CEO Mark Compton ordered a review of every professional contract cited in a report issued last week by the state attorney general's office.

Compton said he was "personally offended" by the alleged conduct, adding that turnpike employees and patrons deserve better.

He said he wants to make sure every contract was awarded appropriately.
