PRINCETON, N.J. -
A machinery fire in Mercer County is still burning as emergency services teams struggle to extinguish it.
The fire broke out on the 500 block of Ewing Street in Princeton this morning after a piece of machinery milling the roadway struck a pressurized gas line. The flames quickly engulfed the machine and spread to a nearby tree.
SkyFOX was over the scene and showed the fire dying down and flaring up repeatedly just before noon, despite fire crews spraying what appears to be foam on the blaze.
Homes in the immediate area were evacuated as a precaution and a hazardous materials response team was called to the scene. They are still planning a way to move the machine and put out the gas fire.
We're awaiting more information from police and fire officials on additional details.
