Group protests Douglas County Animal Control

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -

Animal rights advocates weighed in on Wednesday over what they call the needless killing of animals by Douglas County Animal Control.

They gathered at the Animal Control Advisory Board hearing. They spoke out against what they described as the senseless killing and archaic management style by the shelter director.

A county commissioner has said the shelter's euthanasia rate has not changed since the county hired new shelter director Rick Smith. But county leaders say they are concerned with the number of workers and volunteers who have left the shelter.
