Autopsy: 58-year-old man dies in Washington Heights fire

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man was found dead following a fire in his home in the Washington Heights neighborhood Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters responded at 1:53 p.m. to the blaze in a one-and-a-half story residence at 9330 S. Union Ave. and found heavy smoke in the basement, according to Fire Media Affairs.

Leonard Bloomfield, 58, was dead on the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

A Sunday autopsy found Bloomfield died of heart disease and alcohol intoxication and his death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner's office.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
