NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A Long Island couple was arrested over the weekend after a teen became ill from alcohol poisoning at a party held at their home.

The arrested took place at about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday at the family's Sayville home.

Suffolk County police say that someone at the party made a 911 call to report that a 16-year-old female guest became sick from alcohol poisoning.

When officers arrived they discovered evidence of a beer drinking game, shot glasses and observed more than 25 underage teens gathered in an apartment which is separate from the home.

Police said that some of the teens were visibly intoxicated and witnesses stated that large quantities of vodka had been consumed.

Police say that the couple's 16-year-old daughter had invited friends to the home after a banquet held at St. Anthony's High School in Melville.  Through word of mouth, additional teens who did not know any of the residents also showed up at the party.

John Butler, 54, and Stacie Butler, 54, were arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.  Both were released after posting bail and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
