Police in Milton say they have arrested three people in connection with the shooting death of a man in his driveway.
Investigators say 20-year-old Matthew Goins, 23-year-old Michael Grant, and 20-year-old Richard Davidson were arrested after obtaining warrants on March 26. They say leads in the case came from the CrimeStoppers tip line, and officers were able to locate the suspects based on a description of the car used in the crime.
Police say 19-year-old Christopher Walker was shot once in the head at his home on Silhouette Court just before 7:30 p.m. on March 12. Walker was transported to North Fulton Regional Hospital where he later died.
Police believe the suspects followed Walker from an Alpharetta Taco Bell, and was shot because of a gold chain he had in his possession.
Mary Jo Walker, Christopher's mother, said she was relieved to hear about the arrests.
"My first thought and expression was thank God. Thank God that these people are off the streets and not able to hurt anyone else," she said. "I remain in a place that I cannot be angry if I can help it. So that I can continue to honor Chris."
Mary Jo Walker said that she refuses to think about the men charged in her son's murder. She said that she focuses on remembering her son, who was a student at Georgia Perimeter College who had been accepted into Kennesaw State. He was also an aspiring musician.
"We're talking about a perfect gentleman, someone with amazing love for life and the people around him and not afraid to show it," said Mary Jo Walker.
Goins, Grant, and Davidson are charged with murder, aggravated assault, and attempted armed robbery. They are being held in the Fulton County Jail without bond.
